Current Praxis offers sustained support for people and teams navigating the tides of identity-aware culture change. We co-create restorative coaching experiences that invite leaders to learn, practice and evolve together in community.

As a member of Diverse Waters, a cohort of CoachDiversity Institute's certified professional diversity coaches, Adrienne participated in an exercise that invited each person to describe their coaching approach as a body of water.
Adrienne, a bias impact response coach and equity practitioner, described a tide pool. Tides and tide pools represent impact of currents that can bring and sustain life and cause great harm and destruction.
The metaphor came to life and became the foundation the Current Praxis commitment to offering protected space for clients as they recognize, integrate, support and evolve practices that lead to more equitable and inclusive communities, schools and workplaces.
As a coach and consultant, Adrienne strives to create spaces where people can pause, reflect, plan and evolve as inclusive leaders.--even in the midst of rapid change and challenges.
Drawing on restorative approaches, Current Praxis prioritizes dignity, care and cultural humility as we support clients as they navigate the nuances of identity, lived experiences and change. We knows that true transformation takes time and practice.
As the personal, professional, and cultural currents shift--and tides rise and fall--we embrace opportunity and challenge.

In The Spirit of Intimacy: Ancient African Teachings in the Ways of Relationships, Sobonfu Somé offers that “[community] is the spirit, the guiding light of the tribe, whereby people come together in order to fulfill a purpose, to help other fulfill their purpose, and to take care of one another. The goal of the community is to make sure that each member of the community is heard and is properly giving the gifts that he has brought to this world.”

I am Adrienne M. B. Davis (she/her), a Durham, NC-based coach, consultant, and the founder of Current Praxis Coaching and Consulting.
Over the past 20+ years, I've led equity and inclusion work as I navigate the beauty and complexity of my own intersectional identities, lived experiences, and relationships. I’m deeply honored to do this work in community with others on similar journeys.
At Current Praxis, I support people and organizations in co-creating inclusive communities of practice—spaces where we center care, deepen awareness, and move toward meaningful, sustainable change. This work takes intention, courage, and above all, practice—not in isolation, but together.

The Current Praxis Evolution Story
In 2013, founder Adrienne M. B. Davis began offering Brown.Noise equity training workshops and retreats to local nonprofits, faith-based organizations, and K-12 schools. By 2016, she was developing a restorative impact response process to help organizations navigate equity-related efforts and challenges.
In 2018, Adrienne joined NC State University to lead its Bias Impact Response Team while expanding Brown.Noise offerings to include restorative impact response training. After leaving the university in 2022, she officially launched AMBDavis Equity Coaching, LLC, focusing on building impact response teams, leading training, and facilitating team practice retreats nationwide.
In 2025, AMBDavis Equity Coaching transitioned to its new name, Current Praxis Coaching & Consulting, reflecting an expanded, tiered-approach that centers self-reflection, experiential learning, intentional practice and community care.
Today, Current Praxis provides a dynamic combination of 1:1 and team coaching, inclusive leadership training, and organizational development consulting.
Brown noise is ambient sound that lacks the high, sharp resonance of white noise. Like the dull rumble of wind and waves, brown noise creates a muffled blanket of sound that cocoons and soothes- even as storms rage. Its deeper and stronger frequency generates concentrated energy that supports intentional listening, focused contemplation, reflection and growth.
Inclusive leaders--especially those that navigate intersectional identities and nuanced lived experiences--face disproportionate levels of impact from bias interactions, social change movements and political shifts. We frequently bear the additional responsibility of supporting impacted people and groups.
Brown.Noise Experiences offer an opportunity to pause, silence the cacophony and co-create space for interconnection, community care, rejuvenation and REST.
